Back when I wrote this, “Slenderman” was kind of a thing (2013?). Anyway, I heard (heard is a dangerous word…) that “Slenderman” was in the public domain (it’s not). I thought it would be fun to do a “Nightstik vs. Slenderman” story. My reasoning was that if my guy took down an established IP, it might generate some interest in my character. The Slenderman thing has since died. But the story still hung in my head, unused, demanding to be told. So, even though I had a different arc in mind, this is the story I’m going to try to tell. Interestingly, there was an actual story of a pair of kids that committed crimes and blamed “Slenderman.” That sounded like a good place to start this story…
